Penrith Town Band on the march at Aspatria Carnival 2011

Welcome to Penrith Town Band's Website!

Penrith Town Band has a long and interesting history and has been in existence under several names for well over a hundred years.  Details of this history is available under the heading 'About Us'.

Penrith Town Band is an active community brass band serving the town of Penrith and the surrounding areas.  There are over 35 members in the Main Band, under the baton of Ian Butterworth, plus a Training Band of around 20 members.  Penrith Town Band works hard to provide funds to allow the provision of instruments, uniform, music and equipment for members of the community who wish to learn to play no matter what their age or musical ability. Tuition is also provided free of charge by experienced band members who give freely of their time to help others who wish to learn.

The Band appears at many community events as well as at private functions such as weddings, fayres, carnivals and concerts. Music can be a highlight of any function and we are pleased to perform when and where we can.  If you are interested in hiring the band's services, please contact Ian Butterworth or Dawn Robinson.  Contact details are available on the 'Contact Us' page.

On the 'Events' page are details of concerts, marches and other functions where the Band will be appearing. Please check it out and come and listen.  You won't be disappointed!!

The Main Band meets in the Band Room at the top of the Conservative Club, Crown Square, Penrith at 7.30pm on Mondays. The Training Band also meets in the Band Room every alternate Thursday from 6.30pm until 7.45pm

If you are a brass player, on holiday in the area and would like "a blow", you are more than welcome to come to rehearsals while in the Lake District.  Please contact Dawn or Ian to ensure the band is meeting as we occasionally close for a week or two in the summer months due to large numbers of the band being away on holiday.
